The gateway is the connection between your software and the company that actually processes your cards. On some systems that connection can be pointed at a different processor. You keep your software, your screens, your customer records, and your routine.

• Look at the "Book now" or "Order online" button on your own website and see which web address it opens.
• Check your card terminal or receipt for a brand name.
• Ask whoever set up your software who processes the cards.

Some all-in-one systems require you to use their own payment processing, and for those the honest answer is that swapping the gateway isn't an option without replacing the whole system. If that's you, I'll say so up front. We can still look at whether your current processor will lower your price, and I'll never push you to change systems just to save a little.
